The GO - Supercuts
Happy Holidays everyone! We're pleased to offer up the gift of
psych-rock for yer yule tide cheerios. Prepare your Ipods and CD
burners 'cause this one's a keeper. We've had so many requests
for this album but, unfortunately, ya just can't get it anymore.
Only 500 vinyl copies were pressed and I'm not selling mine!! The
title of the album was indeed lifted from the budget hair salon...
thought that was soooo funny. James, in fact, apparently
inspired, decided to "walk the walk" as well... returning home after a
spiffy clip, his hair cut like a soccer mom. Won't make that
mistake twice!!! The cover photo was shot by England's most
celebrated rock photographer, Ami Barwell, during a live performance in
Manchester. The entire album was recorded on a 4 track cassette
tape machine right in Marc's basement, August 15, 2003. Johnny
plays bass guitar, lead guitar (on 'Linda, We're In Trouble' &
'Games'), sings harmony vocals, also sings lead vocal on
'Games'!!! Marc Fellis, as usual, plays drums like a 1972 time
warp... totally amazing!!! James P. McConnell works his way in
there with rhythm guitar on our version of the Teardrop Explodes
classic 'Sleeping Gas'. I had the rare opportunity to play lead
guitar through, nearly, the entire album coupled with lead vocal.
You'll notice an unusual rendition of Heart's 'Straight On' which
sounds nothing like their recording... funny though, Heart actually
sounded this raw when Marc and I saw them at Freedom Hill, headlining
over Eric Burden, believe it or not! In a nutshell, this is The GO in
its most primitive psychological state, completely stripped down,
shooting directly from the Id... false starts and sour notes included!
We hope you have a wonderful holiday and enjoy listening to
